Description

The ALFA Network AOA-915-5ACM is a compact, high-performance 915 MHz dipole antenna designed specifically for the People’s Network (Helium) and IoT applications. With a rugged, weatherproof design, this 7-inch antenna is built to handle outdoor environments, providing reliable performance for long-distance, low-data transfer industrial applications such as LoRa and HaLow™. Offering a 5 dBi gain, it ensures solid signal transmission and reception across the 902-928 MHz band.

This antenna is a versatile solution, compatible with popular Helium miners including RAK V2, Bobcat 300, Nebra Indoor/Outdoor, SenseCAP M1, Kerlink, Linxdot, SyncroB.it, and FreedomFi. Please note that to connect this antenna to some miners, such as the RAK V2 and Bobcat 300, an RP-SMA to N-female coaxial cable is required, which we carry in stock. For Nebra Outdoor and Milesight miners, this antenna can be connected directly, making installation even easier.

What is HaLow™?

 

Wi-Fi HaLow™ (pronounced “HEY-low”) is a wireless protocol designed specifically for the Internet of Things (IoT). Let’s explore some key aspects of Wi-Fi HaLow:

  1. Long Range and Low Power: Wi-Fi HaLow operates in the sub-1 GHz radio frequency spectrum, which allows it to offer up to 100 times longer range than other IoT technologies. It can penetrate through building materials, making it suitable for home and building automation installations without costly meshes or repeaters. Devices can connect approximately one kilometer or more from the access point (AP), whereas other IoT technologies were designed to reach only 10 meters1 2.
  1. Energy Efficiency: Wi-Fi HaLow achieves higher energy efficiency compared to most existing low-power WANs and wireless PAN technologies. It supports devices powered by coin cell batteries and effectively handles sensor networks in varied environments. It can support up to 8,191 devices per SSID1.

It supports native IP networking and provides the latest Wi-Fi security features. High data throughput and low-latency architecture allow IoT devices to transfer secured data to cloud-based application servers. Field upgrades can be done efficiently and securely without the need for proprietary gateways or hubs used by non-Wi-Fi network architectures commonly found in other IoT systems1 2.
